West Burlington Independent School District Students, Parents & Stakeholders
It is my pleasure to introduce the new Interim Superintendent for the West Burlington Independent School District, Dr. Ken Marang. Dr. Marang has spent over 45 years in education, and served as the Superintendent for the Fort Madison school district for 11 years before retiring in 2016. He has been serving as a substitute teacher in our district and comes highly recommended by our own building Principals. Dr. Marang was approved by the board at the March 25, 2019 board meeting and will serve as Interim Superintendent until June 30, 2019.
With an Interim Superintendent in place the board will now shift focus to searching for the district’s future Superintendent to fill the position and lead our district moving forward. The board has approved hiring the search firm McPherson & Jacobson, LLC to aid in the search. We are confident that we will receive a high amount of interest from Superintendents looking to join one of the absolute best districts in the entire State of Iowa.
The board has also just received the district’s graduation rates from the Iowa Department of Education. We are pleased to announce that our 2018 class 4 year cohort graduation rate is 94.92% (State Average: 91.4%), and our 2017 class 5 year cohort graduation rate is 96.88% (State Average: 93.3%). I would like to thank our staff, students, and parents for continuing to strive for excellence in education at West Burlington.
