WEST BURLINGTON GRADUATION CEREMONY, June 20 2020 @ 2:00

Graduation Ceremony requirements put forth by the Governor.
-Outdoor ceremonies – Can be held with as many people as you want, up to your full operating capacity, and as long as you can keep to the 6 ft. social distancing.
-Indoor graduations – Ceremonies can now be held with social distance guidelines and at 50% maximum capacity of your facility.
-Graduation gatherings and seating – If a family has been sheltering together, they can sit together. Group together by residence and 6 ft. from everyone else. If you live together, you can sit together, otherwise you should social distance.

How this impacts the West Burlington Graduation ceremony:
Outdoor Ceremony
-The ceremony is to be held in our football stadium.  We will have the graduates sitting in the main grandstand bleacher properly distanced.  The football field will be marked indicating where family members can sit together.  Each area will be separated by the required 6 feet requirement.  The spaces will not be assigned.  Each graduate’s family will be available to choose their own “family area”.  There will be only one area for each graduate.  We recommend bringing the yard signs given to each graduate to place in your family seating area as well as a blanket or other seating options.  Individual chairs will not be provided.  All other guests will be allowed to socially distance themselves at other locations on the football field, around the track, or smaller bleacher seats on the east side of the stadium.
-The ceremony will be condensed from previous years.  Unfortunately, there will not be a band or a student choir performance.
-Graduates will have names read and will walk across the stage and receive their diploma from the board president, who will be wearing a mask.  Upon leaving the stage the graduates will return to their seats.
-There will not be a receiving line.
-Once the ceremony has concluded, the graduates will be free to then join their family.
-In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the High School Gym

Indoor Ceremony
-Ceremony will be held in our high school gym.  We will have the graduates sitting on the main gym floor properly distanced.  The gym bleachers will be marked indicating where family members can sit together.  Each area will be separated by the required 6 feet requirement.  The spaces will not be assigned.  Each graduate’s family will be available to choose their own “family area”.  There will be only one area for each graduate.  We recommend bringing the yard signs given to each graduate to place in your family seating area.  Due to seating capacity limits, each graduate will be allowed 6 ticketed guests.  Graduates will be given the tickets for their guests during the graduation practice, which will be Friday June 19 @ 9:30 am.  Individuals without tickets will not be allowed to attend.  We are sorry to implement this, however it must be done in order to maintain the 50% seating capacity limit.
